Searches: PTMs, SNPs, and 1000s of MS Files to Search

The NHLBI-core facility at a renowned academic institution was particularly interested in PTMs and SNPs research. Because they performed fractionation and replication, a cohort of only 32 patients generated 1600+ MS files.

Prior to Integrated Analysis's involvement, it would have been extremely time-consuming and expensive to search over a thousand MS files to identify proteins and, further, these proteins potential PTMs and SNPs.

Using MAPS, the NHLBI core facility submitted thousands of MS files, searched for dozens of PTMs and SNPs, and had results in hours, not months.

The searches occur on a large cluster which can scale to hundreds or even thousands of nodes so that the scientists get their answers within a couple hours, not days or weeks later. The search engines are monitored daily and the search software are updated frequently by IA to keep up with the latest patches.

Moreover, this service required no lab-space and was cheaper than almost all competitive options. In fact, one other client discovered that it was less costly to have IA's MAPS products do the searches than to pay an MS lab to perform the searches
