Data Analysis: Biomarker Analysis on Large Proteomics Data Set
Previous attempts at analysis failed to meet his needs: other systems would (a) crash or were too slow (due to the huge amount to proteomics data) or (b) were too expensive and more focused on sample tracking rather than data analysis.
Integrated Analysis provided the MD-researcher with PASS(Proteomics Analyzer Software System), our flagship and core product. PASS allowed the MD-researcher and his team to easily and quickly answer questions such as: - Which proteins were observed in group A but not in group B?
- Which proteins were over expressed in a statistically significant manner?
- Which peptides/proteins would be suitable for MRM work?
More importantly, his team could perform extraordinary powerful and rich filtering of the dataset, aggregation of the dataset, and what is often referred to as "slicing and dicing" the dataset to delve deeper into any dataset patterns.
Other software may claim some of this functionality, but they were extremely limited compared to what PASS could do.
As well, because PASSintegrates protein annotation information with the MS-based protein data in a very unique way, PASS could identify which PTMs and SNPs were identified experimentally that were not already known in the literature, thus accelerating the speed which the lab could identify potentially novel PTMs and SNPs. (To read more about PTM and SNP data analysis, please see case study #2, "PTMs and SNPs searches galore".)
